Starting Our Master Bedroom Makeover

Getting started is the first step toward designing a beautiful master bedroom. I never said it was easy though! Check it out now!

As I was thinking about this post (and now obviously writing it) I wanted to lie to you.

Starting Our Master Bedroom Makeover

Horrible, right? Plus, I’m a terrible liar. I know you would see right through me! So, here are my top 5 fibs that I almost told you about starting my master bedroom makeover.

1.) I desperately wanted to tell you that Mike and I’s master bedroom is already beautiful and that I don’t have laundry in every nook and cranny.

2.) How my bed is always made, and it is completely free of dog hair and Barbie dolls.

3.) I used a canvas on the floor while I painted the walls, and there are absolutely NO mistakes anywhere on the carpet. LOL. Oh man, even that one made me giggle!

4.) That all of my furniture matches and doesn’t overwhelm this space.

5.) Last, but not least… I’ve known the EXACT direction I’ve wanted to take with our master bedroom and it’ll only take me a few short hours to put it all together.

So yea. All of those statements are completely WRONG.

I know, I know. You’re disappointed. You thought I was superwoman here to rescue you, but no ma’am (or sir). I am just an ordinary woman with ordinary problems and absolutely hates to dust.

Oh well. At least you know the truth now, and boy does it feel good on my end! 😉

In this particular picture I had to vacuum. I thought about showing a “real-life” bed view, but I was afraid I was going to ruin your corneas with the amount of craziness that it would bestow upon you. I originally thought my furniture would look better a darker brown, but after a failed half attempt I realized that it was a very bad idea!

Ok, ok. Back to business! So, in all seriousness, I have FINALLY figured out what I will be doing to our master bedroom, and now that I have three of my walls painted white with one navy blue accent wall I am ready for go time!

Here’s what I’m going to be doing in the next few weeks to create a rustic, but slightly romantic bedroom:

1.) come up with a plan

2.) paint bed and dresser

3.) new sheets and  bed skirt (keep duvet)

4.) design/create bedside tables

5.) update the lighting

6.) add a rug

7.) find new curtains

8.) add a little wall bling

I’ve already gotten started on my furniture painting, and I’m so excited to show you how amazing it looks. You’re seriously going to be shocked!

See you soon 🙂

  1. I look forward to seeing your bedroom project. Mine is so cluttered and I’m working on getting rid of clothes. It too is dusty with lots of cat hair and things left from when my Mom passed away 2 and a half years ago. I had to take everything out of a storage unit to go through and it will take time. I look forward to a simply relaxing home again. Thanks for the inspiration.

    1. No problem, Colleen. I’m so happy that I was able to inspire you! We’ll do our projects together 🙂 P.S. I’d love to see pics of yours too!
