It’s no secret that when a mommy and a daddy make a baby each parent provides 50% of their genes. However, I’m seriously wondering if something went a little askew when it comes to my daughter. Why? Because I honestly think she has more like 75% of my genes and 25% of Mike’s. Maybe… even higher than that if I’m being reallyyy honest with myself!

Not only does that child look darn near identical to me, but she also has a ridiculous amount of my mannerisms, expressions, and unfortunately my quick temper. Wait, wait, wait. Those sound like all bad things. She does have my good looks too. HAH! πŸ˜‰

This realization especially hit me pretty hard when Mike, Ava, and I recently visited my parents in my home state of Indiana. Sure, I’ve heard many, many, many times before that Miss Ava looks like my mini me. However, it’s a completely different ballgame when your mom whips out your old baby books, and the photos in the albums look like the child sitting next to you.

    Kinda cool? Well, yea!

    Really freaky? Even more so.

But, one of the things that I will always miss about Indiana are the lush, velvety green grasses that cannot be found anywhere in North Carolina. I’m absolutely obsessed with the way they tickle your feet when you walk through it in just sandals, and the softness that greets you when you lay upon it for a late afternoon picnic. #superdorkiknow

And you know me. I have this obsession with taking photos whenever the mood strikes, or I’m feeling inspired. So, naturally, I decided to use one of the many gorgeous photos I took on my trip up north as the inspiration for this week’s “Get the Look” series that I’ll be doing every month.

Enjoy, and if you have a photo that you’d love to see a concept board made out of, let me know! I’m always looking for creative shots!

I've been using a lot of warm tones as much as I can. I tend to be a very cold-natured person so during the winter months, I do my very best to think all things summer to get me through! With that being said, I just couldn't resist capturing a similar illustration to remind me of those delectable and much warmer days.

We've had a lot of cold days this winter in NC (not super typical) so I figured the use of warm colors on these butterflies would be the most ideal fit! Hope you're staying warm and cozy ❀
